Rotenturm Castle is a romantic 19th-century fortress built in 1862–1864 by Count Stefan Erdödy in a striking Moorish-Oriental architectural style, designed by Budapest master builder Antal Weber. Situated in the spa region of southern Burgenland, the castle replaced an earlier medieval moated structure that once occupied the site. After changing hands multiple times, including a period of provincial ownership, the castle has been privately owned since 2008 and underwent extensive restoration completed in 2016. Today, the meticulously renovated castle provides a dramatic venue for private events and gatherings, with festival halls on the ground floor available for public use, blending its exotic architecture with modern hospitality.
