Rosegg Castle is an elegant 18th-century château constructed in 1772 in Italian villa style by Prince Franz Seraph von Orsini-Rosenberg, and has been owned by the Liechtenstein family since 1831. The castle replaced an earlier medieval hilltop fortress called Altrosegg that dominated the landscape near Lake Wörthersee since the 12th or 13th centuries. Today, the castle complex offers visitors a unique blend of historical architecture and modern attractions, including Austria's largest garden labyrinth with one kilometer of hedgerow spanning 2,400 square meters, a wildlife park, hedge maze, wax figure cabinet, and café. Open seasonally from May to October, the castle provides free parking and welcomes leashed dogs in the wildlife park.
