Schloss Urschendorf in St. Egyden am Steinfeld is an elegant noble residence with roots extending to the 6th century, though its earliest documented mention dates to 1145 as "Vssendorf." The castle developed as the administrative center around which a traditional street village flourished. After surviving conquest and destruction during the "Kling'sche Fehde" in 1464 under Emperor Friedrich III's mercenary forces, the castle was rebuilt and has remained remarkably stable under the von Weigelsperg family for approximately 130 years since 1882. Today, the castle and its expansive park serve as a popular wedding venue and widely photographed landmark in the Neunkirchen district.
