Loosdorf Castle in Lower Austria was originally constructed as a medieval fortress, first officially documented in 1320 though likely built during the 10th century as a strategic defense installation. Extensively renovated in the late 18th century by the Liechtenstein princes, the castle acquired its contemporary interior design and architectural refinements. After suffering significant World War II damage, the castle was meticulously restored and reopened as a museum in 1959. Today it houses the largest private tin figure collection in Austria, alongside an exceptional collection of exquisite porcelain that includes notable fragments from the original post-war collection.
