Laaer Burg stands as the emotional landmark of Laa an der Thaya in the Mistelbach District of Lower Austria near the Czech border. Erected in the 13th century, this imposing stone fortification initially served as a defensive refuge surrounded by a moat. The castle features the distinctive Butterfass tower and a square dispute tower. The municipality purchased it in 2007 and following renovation, the Butterfass tower and courtyard opened to the public in 2018. The castle now houses the Beer Museum and serves as a venue for concerts, theater performances, and cultural events.
