Landschloss Parz in Grieskirchen stands as one of Upper Austria's largest and most significant Renaissance castles, constructed around 1515 from the demolished materials of the deteriorated Tegernbach fortress. Sigmund Ludwig von Polheim built this architectural masterpiece with Emperor Maximilian I's permission, establishing a harmonious ensemble with its adjacent water castle. The castle's renowned frescoes adorning the garden facade, dating to approximately 1580, rank among the finest achievements of Austrian and South German Renaissance artistry. Today, under the Messerschmitt Foundation's stewardship, the castle hosts weddings and concerts in its flower-decorated arcade courtyard and historic rose gardens, surrounded by meticulously maintained Renaissance landscape design.
