Wasserschloss Eberau stands as Austria's largest water castle complex, featuring a triple-fortified design centered around an irregularly-shaped rectangular palace building. Located in southern Burgenland near the Austrian-Hungarian border, this 17th-century castle was the ancestral seat of the Erdődy family for centuries and remains in their ownership today. The complex showcases Austria's largest moated system with a diameter of 320 meters. Though not generally open to the public, visitors can explore the castle courtyard during annual theater productions and festivals, or walk along paths circling the impressive water fortifications set in the picturesque Pinkatal valley.
