Wasserschloss Aistersheim is a Renaissance jewel standing completely surrounded by water, built upon wooden pilings with four corner towers and symmetrical architectural elements. First documented in 1159, the castle was reconstructed in the late 16th century and completed around 1600 as a masterpiece of late Renaissance design. Located at the edge of the Hausruckwald forest, the moated castle remains one of Upper Austria's most beautiful water castles, with its functioning moat system and elaborate park grounds representing a rare surviving example of historic water fortification architecture.
