CASTLES AJMAN EMIRATE

Al Boma Fort, also known as Masfout Castle or Al Boma Tower, is a captivating 19th-century fortress perched in the mountainous Masfout area of Ajman, showcasing traditional Emirati architecture. The white watchtower sits atop a hill opposite a museum housed within one of the emirate's oldest surviving structures—a fortified tower house that once served as both a defensive post and administrative seat. The site features ruins of historic houses and structures from centuries past, carefully restored to tell the story of the mountain communities that lived inland, farming and herding through seasons unknown to coastal settlements. Al Boma Tower offers an excellent panoramic viewpoint with exceptional views over Masfout and Hatta, making it particularly popular at sunset for its sweeping vistas.

The Red Fort is an ancient fortress situated in Al Manama town in the emirate of Ajman, United Arab Emirates, built between 1910 and 1928 during the rule of Sheikh Humaid bin Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi as a royal residence. The fort gets its distinctive name from the red plaster used on its exterior walls, while its interior features sandalwood beams and supports for structural support and aesthetic appeal. Originally consisting of four rooms and two towers, each containing two rooms, the structure was enhanced with the addition of a third tower following restoration work completed in 1986. The fort is surrounded by lush trees with a picturesque well providing water, and was traditionally open to visitors from 8 AM to 5 PM with free entry, though it may currently be undergoing reconstruction.
