Tower of Peñerudes stands on a hillock north of Campo in the parish of Peñerudes, Morcín municipality, Asturias, originating from the High Middle Ages of the 12th century. This ancient defensive structure protected a key mountain pass controlling access to central Asturias, positioned strategically between the Trubia and Nalón rivers as an expression of Asturian feudalism. First documented in a 1378 bishop's will, the tower remained feudal property until the dissolution of the feudal system in 1827. Despite its designation as a Cultural Interest Site (BIC), the tower today exists in absolute ruin and was included in Hispania Nostra's Red List of Heritage in 2020.
