Torre Ebrí

Torre Ebrí is a 16th-century watchtower situated in the Sierra de Irta at 499 meters elevation near Alcalá de Xivert-Alcossebre in the province of Castellón. Built as part of the alert and surveillance network defending against Berber incursions along the Mediterranean coast, the tower features a circular base measuring 5.5 meters in diameter and rises to approximately 8.5 meters in height. The structure contains remains of interior rooms accessed by ladder stairs, offering glimpses into medieval watchtower life. From its vantage point, visitors command expansive views encompassing Peñíscola, Alcalá de Xivert, Torrenostra, the Montes del Desierto de Las Palmas, and the entire Alcossebre landscape, making it an important coastal defense beacon during its operational period.
