Torre del Moro

Torre del Moro, also known as Castell d'Ivorra, is the sole visible remains of the medieval castle of Ivorra in the Segarra region, built around the year 1000. This distinctive circular master tower stands approximately 20 metres high and was first documented in a deed of sale in 1042. The tower later served multiple functions as a municipal prison and water reservoir. Around the structure, the village of Ivorra developed within protective walls. During the 14th-15th centuries, the castle remained under the Ivorra family's castlany while the eminent property belonged to the powerful Cardona family until the 19th-century abolition of seignorial jurisdictions.
