Torre de Tapia

Torre de Tapia is a late 14th-century tower with a square floor plan located in Tapia de la Ribera, a small village in León province. Built by the Osorio family, who were Marqueses de Astorga, the tower was constructed specifically to control the strategic Órbigo-Luna valley during a period of regional conflict. During the 15th century, the structure passed under the dominion of the Condes de Luna (Counts of Luna), representing shifts in regional power dynamics and administration. The tower remains a significant landmark in the local landscape and serves as an important point of interest for heritage tourism in the region, with multiple historical photographs documenting its distinctive medieval structure and surrounding terrain.
