Torre de Barcas stands on a hilltop at 490 meters elevation near Priego de Córdoba, forming part of the medieval defensive system protecting the villa during the late Middle Ages. Constructed after 1370 when King Enrique II granted Priego to the powerful Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba family, this prism-shaped tower rises approximately 16 meters with its distinctive square floor plan built from masonry reinforced with dressed stone at the corners. The fortification defended the strategic Priego-Alcaudete corridor and coordinated with surrounding watchtowers until the Granada War concluded in 1492. Officially protected as a Cultural Heritage Site, the tower remains a significant medieval landmark.
