Torre de Anyera

Torre de Anyera (also known as Torre de Yebel Ányera) is a distinctive 19th-century neomedieval fortress built between 1862 and 1864 to secure Ceuta's border. Designed by engineer Mendicuti, the fort features a striking circular tower of considerable height with two floors, a battery, and a central staircase surrounded by a dry moat with machicolations and battlements. Constructed from concrete, lime mortar, masonry, solid brick, and ashlar stone, it was built to accommodate roughly 40 men. Located at the western extreme of Ceuta near the Moroccan border, the tower stands as a Bien de Interés Cultural (Asset of Cultural Interest), representing the strategic military architecture of its era.
