Torre Ancón

Torre Vigía de Ancón is a 16th-century watchtower located near Marbella in Málaga, positioned strategically between Puerto Banús and Puente Romano. Built as part of the coastal surveillance system for defensive purposes, it exemplifies the circular watchtower design adapted for firearms use. The tower features a frustoconical profile constructed of stone masonry with lime mortar, standing 11.9 meters tall with a diameter of 7.4 meters at the base. Its interior chamber, accessed from the north side at 6.9 meters elevation, represents the architectural sophistication of 16th-century Andalusian coastal defense. Located near the Roman Villa of Río Verde, the tower remains a significant heritage monument of the region's maritime defensive heritage.
