The Castle of Val is a well-preserved 13th-century fortress perched on a rocky outcropping in Lanobre, Cantal department. Originally built overlooking a valley, this castle was dramatically transformed when the nearby valley was flooded to create the Bort dam reservoir. Now situated on a peninsula surrounded by water, the château creates an exceptional scenic setting with its reflection mirrored in the lake below. The castle is open seasonally for tours, offering visitors a glimpse into medieval architecture in a striking landscape setting.
