Talaia d'Albercutx

Talaia d'Albercutx is a historic coastal defense tower perched 380 meters above sea level on Mallorca's northern Formentor peninsula in the municipality of Pollensa. Built in the late 16th and early 17th centuries as part of the Mediterranean's coordinated anti-piracy coastal defense network, the watchtower commanded strategic views of the Cape of Formentor, the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains, and both Pollensa and Alcudia bays. For centuries, the tower served as one of the Mediterranean's principal surveillance points, enabling rapid response to maritime threats through a system of signal communications. Today accessed via a moderate 3-mile hiking trail with 538 feet of elevation gain, the restored tower offers visitors spectacular panoramic vistas and provides insight into early modern maritime security strategies while serving as a popular destination for hikers and history enthusiasts alike.
