Stack Rock Fort

Stack Rock Fort stands majestically on a small rocky island in Milford Haven Waterway, positioned 700 metres from shore with commanding views across the Irish Sea. Originally a 3-gun fort built between 1850 and 1852, it was dramatically upgraded from 1859 to 1871 when a new building completely enclosed the original gun tower, creating one of Wales' most distinctive fortifications. This Grade II* listed scheduled monument defended the Royal Dockyard at Pembroke Dock against French invasion threats during the Napoleonic era. Now privately owned with plans to make it accessible to the community, Stack Rock Fort remains an iconic symbol of Victorian defensive architecture and maritime heritage in Pembrokeshire.
