Sir John de Graham's Castle

Sir John de Graham's Castle, also known as Dundaff Castle, is a 12th-century motte-and-bailey fortress in Stirlingshire, Scotland, named after the knight and close ally of William Wallace. This ruined medieval earthwork features a substantial timber-framed hall originally defended by an impressive square moat, whose line remains visible today though little structure survives above ground. Sir John de Graham gained historical prominence as a fierce warrior during Scotland's Wars of Independence, fighting alongside Wallace at Stirling Bridge and the Battle of Falkirk before his death in 1298. The site represents the military heritage of medieval Scotland and the pivotal independence conflicts that shaped the nation.
