Schloss Lontzen

Schloss Lontzen, a historic castle in East Belgium, traces its architectural lineage to the 13th century, though the current structure dates to 1746. Built as a two-winged château with eight axes and 50 rooms following earlier fortifications, it was further enhanced with late baroque styling around 1845 and features a decorative oriel on its northwest facade. The castle suffered significant fire damage in 1970 but was meticulously restored to preserve its 19th-century bourgeois character. Today, privately owned and accessible by exterior viewing only, Schloss Lontzen displays striking architectural elements including ornamental moats and an access bridge with wrought-iron railings, making it a noteworthy landmark of regional heritage.
