Scheldevelde is a late-classical castle built in 1846 by the De Potter-Surmont family in De Pinte, Belgium, designed by architect L. Minard to replace an earlier manor house. Originally part of vast moorlands owned by the Abbey of Ghent Saint-Peter, the estate was transformed into a country residence surrounded by seven meticulously designed landscape lanes created around 1777. Today, the castle functions as a care facility and nursing home serving approximately sixty residents, fulfilling a legacy established in 1858 when it was bequeathed as a charitable home for elderly people from the community.
