Sankt Peter Castle is a Renaissance-era moated fortress with roots reaching back to around 1200, first documented in 1277 and extensively rebuilt between 1560 and 1620. Located in Sankt Peter in der Au in Lower Austria's Mostviertel region, the complex features a gabled portal, former drawbridge, large gate hall with ancient archways, and arcaded courtyards from circa 1620, crowned by a battlement turret. The castle now houses the Carl Zeller Museum, dedicated to the life and works of the prominent Austrian operetta composer, featuring his manuscripts and musical artifacts. The museum was formally reopened in 2013, celebrating Zeller's legacy and his most famous work, Der Vogelhändler, which premiered in 1891.
