Richmond Palace

Richmond Palace stands on the banks of the River Thames in Surrey, built by King Henry VII on the site of the former royal palace of Sheen, which was destroyed by fire in 1497. The palace became a centre of Tudor and Elizabethan court life, witnessing royal ceremonies, births, and deaths, including the death of Henry VII in 1509. Queen Elizabeth I held court there frequently and enjoyed hunting stags in the nearby park. Though demolished in the 1650s, the site retains several historic structures including the gatehouse, wardrobe, and trumpet gate, offering glimpses of its royal heritage.
