Raby Castle is an impressive 14th-century fortress dominated by nine towers, set within 200 acres of landscaped medieval deer park and picturesque walled gardens near Staindrop in County Durham. Seat of the Neville family from the 12th century, this historic stronghold served as a headquarters during the Rising of the North before royal confiscation. Purchased by Sir Henry Vane in 1626, the castle remained in the Vane family, who were created Barons Barnard by William III in 1698.
