Schloss Purkersdorf is a moated castle originating in 1255, located west of the town square in Lower Austria. Its four three-story wings are arranged around a rectangular courtyard and now house the Purkersdorf District Court and City Museum. The museum documents local history and showcases a rare surviving carriage from the late 19th century—an only-known example in Europe—that once operated the Vienna-Purkersdorf-Sieghartskirchen postal bus line. Also containing medical offices and private apartments, the castle represents an important medieval structure that has continuously adapted its use over centuries.
