Palacio del Condestable in Colindres, Cantabria, represents a notable example of late medieval palatial architecture initiated in the second half of the fourteenth century by Juan Sánchez de Oño. Following acquisition by Juan de Velasco in 1401, the structure passed to the Alvarado family in the sixteenth century, who expanded it with a central body and eastern tower, introducing large symmetrical windows characteristic of palatial design. The palace has remained in ruins since French corsairs damaged it in 1639, and today stands as private property facing significant conservation challenges from structural deterioration and environmental factors, earning inclusion on the Red List of Endangered Heritage.
