Niederweiden Castle in Engelhartstetten represents an elegant rococo hunting lodge designed by Fischer von Erlach around 1693 and later enhanced under the ownership of Prince Eugene of Savoy. Maria Theresa subsequently purchased the castle and commissioned Nikolaus von Pacassi to remodel it in 1765, adding the striking oval hall with illusionistic murals featuring exotic plants and oriental-inspired musicians. Today, Niederweiden serves as a permanent exhibition venue showcasing baroque art and culture. The castle's adjacent Baroque Game Kitchen, furnished with historically authentic equipment and decor, provides visitors with insight into culinary practices of the baroque era.
