The New Castle (Castell Nou) of Flix is a mid-19th-century military fortification constructed during the Carlist Wars, strategically positioned on a hill overlooking the Ebro River's meander on its right bank. Designed by military engineers with triangular geometry to control defensive flanks along river military lines, the castle represented innovative defensive architecture of its era. Located in the Ribera de Ebro region of Tarragona province, the structure reflects Flix's significant military history, particularly during the Spanish Civil War period, and continues to be an architectural landmark in the Catalan landscape.
