Murallas de San Carlos is an 18th-century maritime fortress constructed in Cádiz to defend against naval attacks, completed in 1784 by military engineer Antonio Hurtado. This semi-bastion complex features 90 artillery pieces and an innovative interior structure of 55 vaults adapted for various purposes, including storage for snow brought from the mountains. Located by the sea adjacent to Plaza España, the murallas offer commanding Atlantic Ocean views particularly stunning at sunset.
