Motako gaztelua

Motako Gaztelua, known as the Castle of La Mota, crowns Mount Urgull overlooking San Sebastián's coastal landscape with panoramic views of La Concha Bay and the surrounding seascape. Originally built in the 12th century, this quadrangular citadel with four corner towers served as a critical defense against pirate raids and military sieges for centuries. The fortress takes its name from the Spanish word mota, meaning mound or hill, reflecting its dominant position above the city.
