Montluçon Ducal Castle, officially Château des Ducs de Bourbon, occupies a commanding position atop an oblong rock in Allier, France, with origins dating to the 10th century. Construction of the present structure began in 1370 by Louis II, Duke of Bourbon, during the Hundred Years' War, and continued for over a century. Though the castle lost strategic importance when Bourbonnais became part of the Kingdom of France in 1527, its impressive medieval architecture survives in the remaining towers and structures.
