Monkstown Castle

Monkstown Castle is a historic medieval tower house with gatehouse built between the 14th and 15th centuries by Cistercian monks of St Mary's Abbey to defend against raids from Wicklow clans. Located in picturesque woodland on a golf course in the village of Monkstown, County Dublin, the structure originally featured three strong towers and fortified walls surrounding an inner courtyard. Following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the castle changed hands multiple times and served various purposes including military barracks and sports club headquarters, remaining accessible for visitor exploration.
