Miler McGrath Castle, built in 1611 by Archbishop Myler McGrath on the northwest shore of Lough Erne near Pettigo in County Donegal, served as a status symbol for the McGrath clan. The castle exemplifies Elizabethan military architecture with fashioned gun loops in its lower floors and ornate window frames above, reflecting the era's transition from blade to gunpowder. Though largely destroyed during the 1641 rebellion and Cromwellian campaigns that followed, the castle remains partially accessible on private land as a historic reminder of the McGrath family's former prominence in Ulster.
