Midhope Castle

Midhope Castle, a 15th-century fortress on Scotland's Hopetoun Estate near Edinburgh, has gained contemporary fame as Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser's ancestral home in the television series Outlander. Situated on private grounds served by personal transport only, the castle allows visitors access to the grounds, courtyard, castle steps, and the surrounding countryside where filming took place. The remote location and restricted access—due to filming, farming operations, and estate activities—preserve the castle's authentic atmosphere and dramatic setting.
