Matzen Castle, mentioned in historical records around 1167, originated as a Roman fortification in the Tyrolean valley of the Inn River. This imposing complex features north and south wings with a distinctive round Romanesque donjon, complemented by a 16th-century arcaded courtyard with marble columns. Today it functions as a hotel and restaurant set within an expansive 200,000-square-meter park designed in English style, showcasing one of Tyrol's most precious natural monuments and featuring a scenic castle pond.
