Lyngsmosefæstningen is one of only two known fortified Iron Age villages in Denmark, dating to approximately 100 BCE. Located near Hover Å in Ringkøbing-Skjern Kommune, this 8-hectare settlement features a palisade-lined rampart with a moat containing sharpened wooden stakes, discovered through aerial photography in 1977. Archaeological excavation (1999–2002) revealed 15 long houses, two smaller structures, and four gated entrances. Marked with turf blocks for modern visitors, the site now features an observation tower and shelter accommodations. The fortress offers a unique window into Iron Age Danish life alongside the scenic Hover Ådal valley with its protected flora and fauna.
