Loughmoe Castle is a ruined medieval tower house situated near Loughmore village in County Tipperary, between the River Suir and the Cork to Dublin rail line. Built in the 13th century by the Purcell family, it was expanded in the 17th century to form a distinctive H-shaped structure combining a four-storey tower house with a fortified extension. Set in open farmland, the castle served as the ancestral seat of the Barons of Loughmoe until approximately 1760 and remains a notable example of Norman fortification in the region.
