Llantrisant Castle

Llantrisant Castle stands in the heart of Llantrisant town, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, as a ruined fortification with deep medieval roots. Originally a wooden palisaded structure, the castle was rebuilt in stone around 1246 by Richard de Clare, Lord of Glamorgan, and served as the administrative center for multiple surrounding lordships. The strategic castle site endured repeated assaults including damage in 1294 during Madog ap Llywelyn's uprising and again in 1316 by Llywelyn Bren. Today only the raven tower and sections of outer walls remain visible within parkland in the town center, standing as testament to its tumultuous medieval history in South Wales.
