Wasserschloss Kottingbrunn is a historic moated castle at the heart of the market town of Kottingbrunn in Lower Austria, with origins tracing to the mid-11th century as a wooden fortress under Margrave Adalbert of the Babenberg family. Rebuilt in stone around 1150 and fortified with Italian-style bastions in the 15th-16th century, the castle survived the first Turkish siege of Vienna in 1529 but was destroyed during the second siege in 1683. Recently renovated, the castle grounds now blend historical architecture with modern amenities, housing the municipal office, library, chapel, and castle museum chronicling the site's evolution. Visitors can explore the moated complex, enjoy the surrounding castle park with playgrounds, and dine at the on-site café and restaurant.
