Kirumpää Bishop's Castle ruins, located near Võru in southern Estonia, represent the remains of a 13th to 14th-century fortification built by the Bishopric of Dorpat. Strategically positioned on a mound overlooking the Võhandu River, the castle once controlled an important medieval trade route from Dorpat to Ruthenia. The fortress underwent successive expansions until approximately 1500, eventually housing a chapel, round tower, and forecourt. Despite damage during the Livonian War and subsequent decline through the 17th century, modest stone and brick wall remnants remain visible on the hillside, preserving evidence of this significant religious and military stronghold. Entry to the ruins is free, making it accessible to those exploring Estonia's medieval ecclesiastical heritage.
