Kindlestown Castle

Kindlestown Castle is a ruined Norman hall house and National Monument located astride Kindlestown Hill in Delgany, County Wicklow, approximately 1.9 kilometres west of Greystones railway station. Dating to the late 13th or early 14th century, it is believed to have been built by Albert de Kenley, Sheriff of Kildare in 1301, though some sources attribute it to Walter de Bendeville around 1225. One of only two hall houses remaining in Ireland, the castle commands expansive views of the countryside and Irish Sea. The stone structure reflects typical Norman architectural style and robust medieval construction. Located just a short distance from Dublin, the castle sits within landscaped gardens and offers visitors leisurely walking routes around its historic grounds.
