Killochan Castle is a well-preserved 16th-century L-plan tower house located approximately three miles northeast of Girvan in South Ayrshire, situated on 166 acres of countryside near the Water of Girvan. Built in 1581 by the Cathcart family, described as one of the finest fortified houses in south Scotland, the castle features a five-storey main block with a higher northern wing, a square stair tower, and a distinctive round tower with corbelled parapet. The castle remains in excellent condition and operates as an exclusive venue for celebrations, weddings, country sports, and corporate events, offering guests the experience of staying in a significant piece of Scottish architectural heritage.
