Kasteel van de Hertogen van Brabant, also known as Turnhout Castle, sits in the center of Turnhout in the province of Antwerp. Built in the 12th century, it served as a country residence for the Dukes of Brabant from the 13th century onward. The castle withstood over a hundred cannonballs during the Eighty Years' War and later served as a French courthouse and prison after 1796. Restored twice in the 20th century in a Neo-Baroque style, it has been a protected monument since 1936 and currently functions as a courthouse.
