The towers on Jaizkibel Mountain, including the Jaizkibeleko Dorrea structures, were constructed during the final Carlist War as part of a defensive system spanning the mountain ridge. Five of six sandstone towers still stand as hollow shells, each originally two storeys with a terrace, connected visually and strategically to enable communication between larger fortresses. These towers feature loopholes for observation and defense, with access historically via retractable staircases. Located near Lezo in the Oarsoaldea region, the towers are part of a designated Monumental Ensemble and remain accessible to hikers traversing the GR-121 trail around Gipuzkoa.
