Holckenhavn Castle stands on a picturesque peninsula near Nyborg, overlooking Holckenhavn Fjord's arm of the Great Belt. Built during the late 16th and early 17th centuries by successive owners, the Renaissance manor features north and east wings completed by 1585, followed by a western wing added in 1631 by Ellen Marsvin. Her contributions included an elaborately decorated 1637 chapel with intricate wood carvings by Hans Dreier and a richly ornamented knights' hall. Named by Eiler Holck, commandant of Kronborg Castle, it became the seat of the Barony of Holckenhavn until 1921. Today, the estate operates as a venue for conferences and private events, with its 12-hectare park open to public access, offering waterside views and historical atmosphere.
