Hof ter Saksen in Beveren evolved from medieval roots into an elegant 18th-century neoclassical estate. The site's history traces to a hostel and farm serving the Old Lord's Road between Antwerp and Ghent; in 1781, the hostel was demolished and replaced with a castle designed in neoclassical style. The architecture displays similarities to works by acclaimed French architects Ange-Jacques Gabriel and François-Joseph Bélanger, featuring refined proportions and elegant detailing. The 27-hectare domain encompasses diverse landscapes—wooded areas, fields, formal gardens, and an arboretum—reflecting both French geometric and English landscape garden traditions. Owned by Beveren municipality since 1982, the estate functions as an educational nature park and popular destination for exploring 18th-century castle architecture and historic estate design.
