Het Liedtskasteel

Het Liedtskasteel is an eclectic castle with Renaissance characteristics located in Oudenaarde, Belgium. Built around 1860 by Charles Liedts, a founder of Belgium and former minister of Finance, the castle was originally a whitewashed country residence. Charles's son Amedée rebuilt it in 1883 in eclectic style with prominent Renaissance influences. The surrounding English landscape-style park was largely created between 1865 and 1869, featuring typical landscape design elements, numerous walking paths, sports facilities, water features with fountains, large lawns, pergolas, and many tall trees. In 1907, Amedée, who was childless, donated the castle with its library and art collections to the city of Oudenaarde. Today the castle houses the VCL (Vrijzinnig Centrum Liedts), and the Liedtspark remains freely accessible from sunrise to sunset, serving the public as an important cultural and recreational destination.
