Hensol Castle

Hensol Castle near Pontyclun in the Vale of Glamorgan is a Grade I listed castellated mansion blending late 17th-century origins with extensive remodeling from circa 1735 onwards in Gothic architectural style. The site occupies land formerly held by the Jenkins family since at least 1419, with the early estate transforming into an 18th-century landscape park featuring a large lake and serpentine pond. Now operated as a wedding and conference venue by The Vale Resort, the castle retains historical significance as an early example of Gothic revival architecture in Wales. Its manicured grounds are designated Grade II on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest, combining domestic elegance with picturesque landscape design.
