Grafenegg Cottages

Schloss Grafenegg, located in Lower Austria east of Krems, is considered one of Austria's outstanding examples of romantic historical architecture. Originally established in 1435, the castle evolved into a four-winged complex with towering towers during the 17th century. In its current form, developed by Earl August Ferdinand Breuner-Eneckevoirth in the 19th century, it showcases seven centuries of architectural history spanning Gothic, Baroque, Biedermeier, and Neo-Gothic styles. Owned by the Metternich-Sándor family and restored with provincial support, the castle has become a major cultural destination, anchored by the renowned Grafenegg Festival founded in 2007, which features the Auditorium concert hall and Wolkenturm open-air stage.
